WHAT I DO

When not writting research articles, I am typically busy conducting experimental tests in the shock tube test facility at the University of Ottawa, or running along one of the many great paths that Ottawa has to offer. I live my life striving to achieve the highest possible level of excellence in everything I do, whether it be with my research, teaching, running, or any other endeavour.

As part of the 8th Edition of the Engineering and Computer Science Graduate Poster Competition at the University of Ottawa, I designed a research poster and presented it to the public, student body, and competition judges. My presentation approach included the use of multimedia content, including videos which were shown by tablet, and accessible QR codes which led to other videos as well. The Ottawa Chapter of PEO holds an annual Student Papers Night, where teams nominated from both of the region's universities compete for awards and prizes by presenting their capstone project. In close cooperation with a local consulting engineering firm, my team and I were given the task to redesign the Puerto Moín seaport in Costa Rica for our 4th year capstone project. Design spreadsheets with reference to the USACE Coastal Engineering Manual were developed for the structural design of various coastal structures, such as armour units, parapet walls, coastal foundations, and geotechnical reinforcements. 2D numerical modeling of wave hydrodynamics was conducted using the MIKE 21 analysis software. Wrapping things up, we performed a detailed cost analysis to justify our work design. The project was presented at the regional student competition organized by PEO, where our team won one of four awards along with a cash prize.
